What this calculator tells you
Relative strength describes a lift in relation to body weight. It is especially useful for tracking your own progress when body weight changes.
How to use the Strength-to-Weight Ratio Calculator
- 1
Enter body weight and a comparable lift result.
- 2
Use the same unit for both values.
- 3
Track the ratio against your own previous results.
Formula and interpretation
Method
Strength-to-weight ratio = selected lift weight ÷ body weight, using the same unit.
How to read the result
A ratio of 1.25 means the lift equals 1.25 times body weight. Compare the same lift, standard, and technique over time.
Important limitations
Ratios do not adjust for sex, age, limb lengths, equipment, range of motion, or weight-class scaling. This tool deliberately avoids invented ranking labels.
Strength-to-Weight Ratio Calculator questions
Is a higher ratio always better?
It indicates more weight lifted relative to body weight, but does not capture technique, health, or sport-specific goals.
Can I compare different exercises?
No. Compare like with like: the same exercise, equipment, and movement standard.
