Method
Volume load = sets × repetitions per set × external load. Total repetitions = sets × repetitions.
How to read the result
Compare the same exercise under similar technique. A larger number is not automatically a better workout if quality or recovery falls.
Important limitations
Bodyweight resistance, machines, unilateral work, range of motion, tempo, and proximity to failure make cross-exercise comparisons imperfect.
