What this calculator tells you
Total daily energy expenditure estimates the calories used across resting metabolism, movement, training, and digestion. It is best used as an initial hypothesis that you calibrate with real trends.
How to use the TDEE Calculator
- 1
Enter age, height, weight, and the equation constant.
- 2
Choose the activity level that best matches an average week.
- 3
Calibrate the result using several weeks of consistent observations.
Formula and interpretation
Method
TDEE = Mifflin–St Jeor resting energy estimate × selected activity factor.
How to read the result
Hold intake and tracking reasonably consistent for two to four weeks. If average body weight trends up or down, adjust the estimate gradually.
Important limitations
Activity categories are broad and people often overestimate them. Wearables and formulas can both differ from actual energy expenditure.
TDEE Calculator questions
Should I eat exactly my TDEE every day?
Not necessarily. Daily expenditure varies; the estimate is more useful as a weekly starting average.
Does TDEE include workouts?
Yes. The activity multiplier is intended to represent workouts plus ordinary daily movement.
